Born in 1998, AnaMarie King is an originally self-taught, multi-disciplinary, emergent artist from Washington, D.C.
Driven by experimental studio practice, King's work investigates how the challenges of
commodification, censorship, and agency have persisted and evolved in the dominant narrative
of American history. With particular consideration for the intersection of marginalized identity
markers, like race, gender, and age, King's work examines the social structure of America, exposing
and mocking the rigidness enforced by societal norms.
